The Caledon spreading some Madiba magic!

The Caledon spreading some Madiba magic! The Caledon, Western Cape’s favourite entertainment destination, celebrated Nelson Mandela Day by visiting an independent, special needs school based in Hermanus – Camphill Farm Community. The team of volunteers enthusiastically swept floors, washed windows, weeded the gardens and then spent some quality time with the children and caretakers. The morning started with kitchen and gardening duties for the volunteers and ended with smiles and selfies all round! The Camphill Farm has been providing managed shelter and support to adults and children with intellectual disabilities to assist them with experiencing a better quality of life. Earlier this year Camphill was badly affected by the fires that raged through Hermanus – to such an extent that all occupants had to be evacuated. This was a traumatic experience for this community-based school/farm. The Caledon wanted to make a difference in their lives after this distressing evacuation. Paul Campbell, Director of Operations and Complex GM, said “The school principal, PR Coordinator and the staff all expressed their sincerest gratitude towards The Caledon Casino, Hotel, Spa and Entertainment employees for all the assistance and their interaction with the children. All in all, it was a very special day for everyone involved!”
