- Facilities are closed on Mondays for cleaning except when the Monday falls on a Public Holiday.
- Right of admission is reserved
- Kindly bring your own swimming gear if you want to make use of the Mineral pools.
- The Caledon Spa reserves the right to limit the number of day visitors to the Mineral pools for health and safety reasons
The Mineral Pools
The mineral rich hot springs produces over a million litres of water daily and has an average temperature at source of 65 degrees Celsius.
The distinctive brown colour of the water is due to the rich iron content, known as chalybeate. The oily layers found on the surface of the pools is due to the high mineral content of the spring waters and varies in density from time to time depending on weather conditions.
The mineral pools are completely drained and filled every week giving our guests the very best of the hot spring waters in the pools.
Mineral water contents: Iron, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sulphate, sodium, silica, bicarbonate and chloride with a ph of 7.2
Victorian Bath House: In 1897 an elegant Victorian Bath House were erected which soon became a haven to the well-to-do Capetonians. Today the fully restored Bath House is a historical monument.
Lap Pool: The lap pool is designed to be ideal for health and fitness exercise rather than for pure recreation and leisure. The current created when swimming in the lap pool, provides an invigorating, low impact work out similar to what an Olympic athlete would experience.
Added Relaxation Area:
With 100% humidity this steam-based room is designed to detoxify the body and cleanse it of all impurities.
In this hot, wood scented environment you are sure to detoxify your mind, body and soul.
A fridgedarium is a cold pool to drop into after having a session in the hot sauna or steam room. The hot environment will open the skin pores and a dip in the cold water will ensure that it close. The dip will refresh your body.
The body is massaged simultaneously with warm water from jets and then with a touch of a button, the body is invigorated by a cold waterfall. There's nothing better to get the circulation going.
The outdoor Jacuzzi can easily seat more than 5 people.
Additional offerings: Our athletic facility is equipped for sports and physical training. This facility is only available to Hotel guests who may access the gym with their room key.
Equipment includes: Treadmill, Spin bicycles, Weights (low & high impact), Rowing machine, Stepper and Bench press.
Enjoy our tranquil and serene Zen Garden with soothing music in the background. This is the ideal place to be quiet and just enjoy what nature has to offer.
Sit back and enjoy something hot, or cold, to drink while you overlook the beautiful scenery of The Overberg wheat fields. Open from 8:00 – 17h00.
You are welcome to pack your own picnic basket or order one and enjoy a feast in our dedicated picnic areas. Due to the high safety risk we unfortunately don't allow any glass items near the pools.
