Partnership with Club Newlands provides exciting opportunities for local rugby fans
The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa is excited to announce a new partnership agreement with Club Newlands – the official supporters club of the DHL Stormers and WP, which will provide a wide range of unique opportunities for young rugby fans from all over the Overberg area. The agreement includes the chance for:
- 20 underprivileged boys and girls under 12 years old from the area to participate in a three day coaching clinic twice a year, to be held at venues to be decided upon in greater Cape Town.
- 100 kids from the Overberg to be coached by the DHL Stormers at a clinic in Caledon on April 20, 2011. The Stormers will also have a training session on the same day at the same venue, where locals will get the chance to see the players train as they continue their Vodacom Super Rugby campaign.
- Tickets to each of the DHL Stormers and WP home games over a two year period for eight disadvantaged children, as part of a sustainable development programme.
Commenting on the partnership, Paul Campbell, General Manager for The Caledon Casino, Hotel and Spa, said, "The Overberg is a great rugby loving area, in addition to the fact that the partnership is very much in line with our overall Corporate Social Responsibility programme. A number of great players come from here and we felt that this relationship provided a natural synergy. We are delighted to have the opportunity to be a part of Club Newlands and at the same time provide a unique opportunity for some of our young local rugby enthusiasts".
Campbell continued:"We are also very conscious of the importance of sport in keeping children off the streets and away from crime and drug abuse. Getting the children involved in team sports can enhance lives, provide enjoyment, help build communities and raise aspirations. We feel that this initiative provides a logical extension of our commitment as a business not only to both physical and mental well being, but to making a difference in the communities in which we operate".
The sponsorship took effect from the beginning of March 2011 and will run for two years. |
